A Unique Venue with a Story to tell. Creating memorable events since 1937.
A note from the owner
Thank you for checking out our humble little wedding venue in Green Cove Springs, Florida! It's been a crazy journey to get where we are today. Our venue was officially open for business one year ago! It's wild to think that our little idea to turn an almost hundred year old movie theatre into a wedding venue actually became a reality!
Right after my husband and I got married and moved to Green Cove Springs, we noticed the town's abandoned movie theatre was for sale and knew we could do something cool with it. One of our many ideas was a venue since we had a hard time finding a unique wedding venue that fit our style and it seemed like everything out there was a more rustic style or a banquet hall feel.
When we noticed the theatre's original brick walls and exposed wood ceilings, we knew the building had some character. And of course nothing compares to the neon sign lit up at night. We found an awesome builder who connected us with a commercial designer and an architect and the rest was history. From demo to completion the project was finished in about a year.
We had 50 weddings booked by our grand opening party and continue to attract the most awesome couples who believe in our vision and are so excited to get married at our venue. The wedding community welcomed us with open arms and we're so grateful for our vendor friends. The most rewarding part is getting to be part of so many families' special milestones. We love following our past couples and forever being part of their stories.
I'm especially thankful for my Clay Theatre team! I would consider us a boutique wedding venue since our team is super small and more like a family. You will get to work directly with us from booking and throughout the planning process. Our event helpers are awesome too! We will take care of you and you will become part of the Clay Theatre family.
There's nothing we wouldn't do for our couples and no request too big or small. We have the most rewarding jobs- there's nothing better than hosting someone's best day ever! Thank you reading and I'd love to learn more about your wedding plans! Feel free to email, call or click the learn more button to fill out our contact form!

Green Cove SpringsSINCE 1937 Clay Theatre has hosted nights of delight for thousands of visitors. The historic landmark was once a thriving movie cinema and popular destination for tourists visiting Green Cove Springs. The town once known as the original fountain of youth, had natural springs famous for its healing properties.
Theatre HistoryIn the 1940's the theatre attracted sailors from the nearby Naval Air Station. Taxi cabs and white uniformed sailors would line the street on a Friday night. A local man shared a story of taking his wife on a first date to the movies at Clay Theatre.
The Cove & ClayThe movie theatre was so popular, a second theatre was built directly to the east of the building, called the Cove Theatre. Vintage movie advertisements for "The Cove and Clay" were found in the theatre's safe. The theatre underwent many renovations and continued on as a thriving movie theatre until 2014, when the Clay Theatre closed its doors as a movie theatre.
